Heather Fisher, Partner
Heather is from Saint John, New Brunswick, with an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in music from the University of British Columbia. She moved to Victoria in 1990 to join the Victoria Symphony as second bassoon. From 1992 to 1994 Heather served on the Victoria Symphony Board of Directors and through her involvement as the musicians’ representative in contract negotiations and work place disputes developed an interest in law. Subsequently, Heather pursued legal studies at the University of Victoria, received her law degree in 2001 and was called to the Bar in September 2002 after completing articles with Horne Coupar. While in law school Heather was proud to receive the Scotia Trust – Donovan & Maryla Waters Award in Trusts and Estate Planning. Heather is also the recipient of the Gold Standard of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Since joining Horne Coupar, Heather has practiced primarily in the areas of estate and general civil litigation, elder law, wills and trusts, incapacity planning and in providing legal assistance to charities and other non-profit organizations. When time allows, however, one may still find Heather on the concert stage performing with many Victoria music ensembles. Heather is enjoying the multifaceted challenges of a legal career and is blessed to have a supportive husband and two teenage daughters.
